Local Corporation for Water & Sanitation services
Aden Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation (Aden LC) is responsible for providing water and sanitation services to Aden city and its surrounding areas, serving a population of approximately 1.2 million as of 2022. The LC supplies water to 95% of the population through an extensive distribution network, although water availability per person remains limited, averaging between 80 and 100 liters per day. Groundwater, known for its good quality, is the sole source of water. The sanitation services cover specific areas, utilizing three treatment plants that currently discharge treated wastewater into the sea due to infrastructure damage and insufficient maintenance, highlighting the urgent need for rehabilitation to ensure environmental sustainability and public health.
Annex 10 Technical Assessment Report for Aden LC assess the institutional and infrastructural aspects of the LC, including organizational structure, staffing, financial capacity, customer management, and IT resources, alongside the condition and needs of water production facilities, distribution networks, and sanitation systems. It concludes with prioritized recommendations for technical assistance and investment plans aimed at improving service delivery and operational efficiency.
