Seiyon

Local Corporation for Water & Sanitation services

Seiyun Local Corporation (LC) provides water supply services to 69% of the area’s population, which equates to about 427,714 individuals. However, there are no connections to a sanitation system due to the incomplete sewer networks, with only 3% of the population using suction tankers for sewage removal. The LC operates 46 wells to source water, which is distributed through an extensive network that includes 33 ground reservoirs, 3 water sterilization facilities, and 1 water laboratory. Despite the challenges, including energy supply issues and the need for significant infrastructure rehabilitation, the LC manages to maintain a continuous water supply, one of the best in Yemen, providing an average of 90 liters per capita per day.
