Local Corporation for Water & Sanitation services
Al-Dhalea' Local Corporation for Water and Sanitation (LC) is responsible for water services to a population of approximately 83,200 people, with 35% currently connected to the public water supply system. Established in 2008, the LC has faced significant challenges due to the ongoing conflict, which led to extensive damage and looting of its infrastructure. Despite these setbacks, the LC has resumed operations, relying on three operational wells for its water supply. Key infrastructure, including the Sanah and Al Sawda pumping stations, remains damaged and non-operational. The administrative buildings in Sanah and Al-Dhalea' city also suffered damage and looting. The LC is actively working on improving water access, with plans to drill new wells and rehabilitate existing infrastructure. The LC has also identified urgent, high, medium, and low priority measures requiring a total investment of approximately USD 22.1 million for rehabilitation and extension of water and sanitation systems, provision of solar systems, and necessary operation and maintenance materials.
Annex 3 Technical Assessment Report for Al-Dhalea' LC provide an in-depth analysis of the damage incurred during the conflict, current operational challenges, and proposed technical assistance and investment plans to restore and enhance water supply and sanitation services.
